Design, complexity, permeability: these are the first words that come to mind when entering the new joint showroom of Solinfo and Defo Labor. The VITRIN, a fresh project by Dóra Fónagy, Krisztián Szetei, and Zoltán Orbán, is not only an exhibition space where we can encounter the latest trends through chairs from Western and Northern brands, but also a platform that allows different art forms to flourish, collaborate, and most importantly: strengthen each other.

“At VITRIN, you can find not only Danish, German, American, or Italian design chairs but also a living, creative workshop where exhibitions, professional trainings, and various collaborations take turns,” explain the founders. The business model they represent is still scarcely known in Hungary, even though conventional commercial methods no longer fully serve today’s lifestyle. Decades ago, Krisztián Szetei, one of VITRIN’s founders, recognized this new trend and, together with Zoltán Orbán, began building Solinfo in a completely new spirit — evolving it from a lamp studio into a unique design agency and brand. Their approach is based on understanding design not just as a product, but as a set of needs surrounding furniture, which they are capable of addressing individually or comprehensively with professional solutions.

In VITRIN, this combination of complexity, vision, and years of commercial expertise merges with Dóra Fónagy’s interior design and creative experience and Defo Labor’s inventive mentality. At the center of it all is the showroom’s current selection, featuring chairs from a total of twenty different manufacturers. Choosing these pieces is a crucial task, as one of their main strategies is to create a forum where the showcased products, complementing each other, allow visitors to explore innovative and multifaceted solutions. Their curation not only draws inspiration from trends but also provides a precise and comprehensive picture of the interior objects that define our spaces — and, in turn, ourselves.

Moreover, the new concept store reflects the profound global lifestyle shifts that characterize our world today. Consider this: never before has creativity, individuality, and community played such a central role. This naturally affects consumer expectations: today, what we buy is expected not only to serve a function but also to say something about us — whether it’s a piece of clothing, an accessory, or furniture in our homes.

VITRIN responds to these new and often complex needs with its own innovative system, going beyond the simple concept of shopping. The structure is an integral part of the space’s atmosphere, the personal connection with customers, and professional as well as broader social education — realized through community programs, exhibitions, and professional workshops.

It is no secret that one of their goals is to bring the concept store and the culture of quality design to as wide an audience as possible.
