BABA Bistro is a welcoming community spot in the heart of downtown Budapest, located at the corner of Sas Street and József Attila Street in District V. The primary focus of the design was the relationship between the street and the interior space – the connection between outside and inside.

The central organizing element of the space is the counter and communal table aligned along the main axis, perfectly serving today’s needs. The open kitchen communicates with the space, where the chefs’ personal presence ensures a modern gastronomic experience for the guests.

The high ceiling allows guests to enter a clear, airy space. Following the gastronomic strategy in the design concept, natural materials are used – wooden flooring, warm-rolled steel, and glass surfaces. The landscape-scale greenery and plant environment form an important design element. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere is enhanced by the choice of materials, restrained colors and forms, and soft, subtle lighting.

Custom furniture, fixtures, and lighting were assembled with the Solinfo team, while the plant concept integrated into the distinctive space was designed in collaboration with György Zsigmond (FineCut). In this project, Leon Saven acted as co-designer alongside architect/designer Dóra Fónagy.
